Roy Straver
Senior Scientist
Roy obtained a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, followed by a master track that specialized in Bioinformatics, at the Delft University of Technology. After this he obtained a PhD at the VU University Amsterdam for developing methods to detect copy number variations in cell free DNA, creating tools such as WISECONDOR, which allow determination of copy number variations in a fetus by sequencing a small maternal blood sample, taken after a few months of pregnancy. Since joining the Ridder Group in 2017 he mainly worked with Nanopore sequencing data, leveraging raw data to improve identification of mutations and modifications using Oxford Nanopore Sequencing.
